MVU 1962 Vets & ParaVets Federation of India

(Under the Aegis of Veterinary Association of India – VAI)

Empowering Frontline Veterinary Professionals | Strengthening Rural Animal Healthcare | Building a Unified National Voice

The Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU 1962) initiative, launched under the National Livestock Mission by the Government of India, is a landmark step towards ensuring doorstep veterinary healthcare services across the country. These units are operational in almost every district, delivering free, accessible, and timely animal healthcare services directly to livestock owners, particularly in rural and remote areas.

Each MVU is powered by a team of Veterinarians (Vets) and Paraveterinary professionals (Paravets) who serve as the backbone of field-level animal healthcare delivery. Through mobile veterinary vehicles, they provide clinical services, vaccination, disease surveillance, and advisory support at the farmer’s doorstep.

Why This Federation?

While MVU 1962 has significantly improved service delivery, the professionals working within this system often face critical challenges, such as:

Non-uniform service conditions across states

Limited job security and professional recognition

Inadequate infrastructure and operational support

Outsourced implementation models leading to welfare gaps

Despite their essential role, Vets and Paravets remain underrepresented and underserved.

To address these issues, the Veterinary Association of India (VAI) proudly establishes the:

“MVU 1962 Vets & Paravets Federation of India”

— a National Platform dedicated exclusively to the welfare, representation, and empowerment of MVU professionals.

Our Vision:

To build a strong, unified, and nationally recognized federation that safeguards the rights, dignity, and professional growth of all MVU 1962 veterinarians and paravets.

Our Mission:

To advocate for fair policies and better service conditions

To provide a unified national voice for MVU professionals

To facilitate knowledge exchange, field coordination, and case discussions

To promote capacity building, training, and professional development

To strengthen the One Health approach across India

To bridge the gap between policy makers and field realities
