📋 Membership Overview

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To be admitted as a member of VAI, an applicant must:

• Be a Registered Veterinarian in India, enrolled with a State Veterinary Council or the Veterinary Council of India (VCI)
• OR be a Veterinary Scholar studying in a VCI-recognized veterinary college
• Have paid the applicable membership fee
• Not be declared insolvent or of unsound mind
• Not have been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude

🧑‍🔬 Types of Membership

VAI offers five categories of membership to suit diverse professional profiles:

1️⃣ Life Member

• For registered veterinarians
• One-time fee; valid for lifetime
• Ideal for professionals seeking long-term affiliation

2️⃣ Student Member

• For students of B.V.Sc & A.H or postgraduate veterinary programs
• Must be enrolled in a VCI-recognized institution
• Annual membership; renewable

3️⃣ Corporate Member

• For institutions, universities, breeding stations, societies, or commercial firms
• Must be engaged in veterinary research, education, or allied sciences
• Promotes institutional collaboration and visibility

4️⃣ Patron Member

• For distinguished scientists or research managers
• Nominated by the Executive Committee
• May or may not involve financial contribution

5️⃣ Honorary Fellow / Fellow Member (FVAI)

• For eminent individuals who have contributed significantly to veterinary research, development, trade, or industry
• Conferred by invitation of the Executive Committee
• Eligible candidates: Ph.D. holders or those with Provisional Degree Certificate (PDC) post-viva
• Entitled to use the designation FVAI
  • Example: Dr. V.K. Singh, Ph.D., FVAI
